Jurong Polyclinic shuts down temporarily to treat chemical burns victim
SINGAPORE : Jurong Polyclinic was temporarily shut down for about half an hour on Wednesday afternoon, after a patient believed to be suffering from chemical burns was brought there.
Police say the patient is a foreign worker who works in an engineering company at Tuas Avenue 5. He had burns on both his hands.
When the patient arrived at the polyclinic, he was initially treated by the nurses there before being conveyed to Singapore General Hospital.
But just as the ambulance was about to leave, civil defence officers intercepted the vehicle and proceeded to decontaminate the man.
Some 200 patients and its staff were asked to evacuate the building as a precautionary measure.
The polyclinic later resumed operations at about 4pm.
but during tat time i heard different versions got wat fire lar, gas leak(speeling like dis ba), got smoke, got smell in the end is someone get hurt with chemical. i was at juroong polyclinic at tat time (why lei) cos i work there lar but i am not polyclinic staff (very confuse rite so dun care so much) ha ha ha ha
